Food Fatigue
May 24, 2008 – 3:50 pmFood Fatigue is a very real situation when in emergency situations. It primarily affects the young and the elderly. So what is it you ask??
Basically immagine eating the same thing over and over for a long period of time. Simply put, it is caused by a lack of variety in a diet.
Most emergency supply lists focus on long term storage items – wheat, honey, ……. Oh yummy! First off, most folks do not do too well eating cooked wheat for one reason or another. Secondly – BORING!!! So what is an aspiring Urban Survivalist to do?
First, buy foods that you will eat. If you like fruit leather, oatmeal, boston baked beans (you get the idea) then put them in your storage!
Second, have some goodies like candy. Believe it or not something as simple as candy can break the monotony.
Third – plan out a menu. Do not expect to live on military energy bars for more than a couple of days.
Forth – have dried drink mixes – you will need to hide the taste of the water treatment chemicals.
Hopefully, this will help you in being prepared.
