Thanks for coming over to the Urban Survival Secrets blog.  The goal of this blog is to assist everyone in living he Boy Scout Motto of “Be Prepared”.

Through the Blog and newsletter, it is my plan to provide equipment, plans and techniques to help you be able to survive things from a pandemic to a natural disaster to urban strife all while staying in your residence.

For those who register for the Urban Survival Secrets newsletter, I will send you a special report on getting a food storage plan in place for you and your family.  The plan is designed to work with most any budget and to have readily available foods.  The key to the food storage is to buy foods that you will normally eat.  Food fatigue during an emergency situation is real and can mean the difference in your survival.  In my newsletter and blog, I will place links so that you can see and purchase equipment and other items for your survival kit.

A little about me.  I am not some sort of doom and gloom person believing that all hell is waiting to break loose.  My interest in survival goes back to the late 70′s when I was a young man in scouting.  One of my favorite merit badges was emergency preparedness.  Learning to be prepared in all sorts of situations sunk into my head to the point that I had a girlfriend who thought I was wacked for having half of the trunk of my car stocked with “useless stuff” during trips.  Only when we needed a shovel due to an unfortunate run in with a snow bank did she come to appreciate my “stuff”.

I was a manager at several small and large companies who was responsible for several factories and offices (and the safety and security of the employees.)  I was responsible to ensure that the facilities were ready for a natural or civil disaster and to ensure that supplies were ready to hold the fort down.
