I have had the FR 300 for over a month. I can say that once again that Eton has made me a happy survivalist – I am getting another for my office as paret of my remote survival gear. No, this thing is not made of Titanium, but it is well made and has a pretty cool form factor (ergonmically correct when holding the radio to crank it up.

Chris’ Thoughts:

I really like the products that Eton makes. The FR 300 gets a 9 out of 10 star ranking for me for one little factor: The crank handle is somewhat a pain to pinch unlike the FR150 (reviewed earlier.) If it had a piinch type handle, I would give it a 10 out of 10 rating! The body has a light rubberized coating (I have the red version) and is easy to hold onto. It does very well with reception of the channels I listen to (and some of the cross border stations from Mexico I did not want to hear ;-) )

When you place the dial on alarm, be prepared – my wife got mad at me when the the thing went off at 1130 at night right before a thunderstorm – it was loud. I left it in my office and when the alarm went off when the janitorial crew was in the poor lady just about had a heart attack apperently! The Radio tuner dial has a course and fine adjustment feature which is great to have! Also, the NOAA adjuster dial is great and turns easily

I checked the pricing on the thing and it is $50 through Eton’s website. If you purchase via Amazon, you can get it for $40.72 when I checked it this evening with free shipping (using super saver) I don’t know how long this will last especially with Hurricane Season, but this is a great buy! Click on the link below for the radio. It also comes in white.
